Warren Buffet Avoiding War With Coca-Cola

                Brad Quick | CNBC

Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway board member Bill Gates participate in a fan's selfie at the company's annual meeting on May 3, 2014.
Warren Buffett told shareholders that Berkshire abstained in a vote over Coca-Cola's controversial executive pay plan because he didn't "want to go to war" with the company but did want to express his unhappiness with a plan he called "excessive."

Speaking before roughly 38,000 shareholders at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting in Omaha, Buffett said abstaining was the "most effective way" for him to make a "clear statement" opposing the plan. "I don't think going to war is a very good idea in most cases."

Buffett said there's a social dimension to being on a board. Even "independent" directors aren't really all that independent because they often want to keep a prestigious job that pays well and has relatively few duties.

When choosing board members, "They do not look for Dobermans. They look for Cocker Spaniels and then they make sure their tails are wagging."

In addition, Buffett said that if someone on a board votes against proposals that person would lose influence with fellow directors. "If you keep belching at the dinner table, you'll be eating in the kitchen."

China: From Fake Apple Stores, Gucci, Luis Vuitton To Fake Government

China has seen its share of counterfeits, from fake Apple stores to fake reporters to fake Gucci. Now add fake government to that list.

State media recently reported that a “People’s Government of Dengzhou” set up in central Henan province was toppled after it was found, in fact, to be a fraud.

According to reports, the government was set up late last year by three residents who had gone so far as to counterfeit fake government seals and issue papers in the bogus government’s name. They also tried to build up their own “civil service,” sending out recruitment ads that attracted more than 10 applicants before the real government shut it down.

Amir Khan Defeats Luis Collazo

Collazo vs. Khan Results: Winner, Scorecard and Analysis

Amir "King" Khan (29-3) made easy work of Luis Collazo (35-6) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand.

The former WBA and IBF light welterweight champion boxed circles around his opponent for 12 rounds en route to a unanimous-decision victory.

Through the first three rounds, Khan's hand speed and movement proved to be too much for Collazo. Several stellar combinations jutted Collazo's head back. The tough Puerto Rican kept coming forward, but he was clearly being outclassed.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather Defeats Marcos Maidana, Record 46-0

Floyd "Money" Mayweather entered Saturday's fight against Marcos Maidana with the weight of the world on his shoulders as a heavy favorite with an unblemished career record. Despite that, Mayweather once again rose to the occasion and proved to be the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

Maidana showed early on that pundits who took this fight lightly would be proven wrong. The aggressive challenger tallied the early lead by being the busier fighter and consistently putting Mayweather on the ropes.

The juxtaposition of Maidana's reckless attack and Mayweather's slick efficiency made those rounds difficult to score. But in the end, it was Money's ability to adjust to his opponent's style that once again earned him the nod in the eyes of the judges.

Harf did not elaborate on the kind of assistance Washington is offering, but said: "We know Boko Haram is active in the area and we have worked very closely with the Nigerian government to build their capacity to fight this threat."

Real Life in Canada, Home of the World’s Most Affluent Middle Class

Kyle McGreal, 35, works at a grocery warehouse in Caledonia, Ontario. He is a married father of two and earns about $24 per hour. After taxation, middle-class incomes in Canada appear to be higher than those in the United States.
The Canadian middle class may now be the world’s richest, but it has its anxieties, too.

Members of the middle class in Canada worry about whether they can afford college for their children and whether their children will find jobs afterward. Housing costs are a major concern, as are everyday costs for transportation and mobile-phone plans. Middle-class Canadians worry about inequality.

Yet many also believe that they’re better off than their American counterparts.

We reported last week that median income in Canada appears to have surpassed median income in the United States, based on more than three decades of international income surveys analyzed by LIS, a research group, and by The Upshot. As recently as 2000, median income in the United States was significantly higher. The data also show that lower-income families in Canada and much of northern Europe now make more than their American counterparts.

Floyd Mayweather puts ex on blast for aborting his twinis

A very jealous Floyd Mayweather put his ex-fiancee, Shantel Jackson, on blast online earlier today. Here's what happened. Shantel posted a pic of herself and rapper Nelly on her instagram page, calling him a real friend. Thing is, there have been rumours recently that the two were dating, though Nelly has since denied this.

Moments after Shantel posted the pic, the boxing champ posted a picture of an ultra-sound with Shantel's name on it claiming the real reason they broke up was because she aborted their twin babies. Of course he deleted the pic minutes later but not before it spread like wild fire.

People magazine has exclusively obtained a pic of the ring and it's beautiful. There are reports that they are planning to marry before September. When a man knows, he knows! Congrats to George. Continue...

Wealthy black celebs, including Oprah, Diddy & Mayweather offer to buy Clippers

With the Basketball Commission forcing L.A Clippers owner Donald Sterling to sell his team following his racist audio tape scandal, several high-profile black celebrities have shown interest in buying the team. Oprah Winfrey, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Floyd Mayweather and Magic Johnson have all shown interest, especially Oprah.

Sterling, however, says his team is not for sale and won't go down without a fight. The 81 year old, who has not issued a public apology yet, bought the Clippers for $12 million in 1981. Today they are worth a staggering $575 million. Oprah is worth over $3billion...so she's capable.
The only way Sterling can be forced to give up his team is if 3/4 of the NBA owners agree to the sale

Hollywood Actor James Franco Gone Gaga, Exposes Pubic Hair

He's only 36 but he seems to be having some kind of mid-life crisis. First was his recent scandal involving a 17 year old girl who he tried to pick up online, and since then James Franco has been looking for more attention on social media by tweeting pics that many feel are inappropriate.
Last night he posted his most shocking pic yet, which shows him standing in front of a mirror in his bathroom in just his boxer briefs with his hand down his pants and pubic hair showing. He deleted it an hour later after serious backlash from fans who questioned his sanity. This is what B-list & reality stars do, not a bonafide Hollywood A-list actor.

How Canada Became Addicted To Temporary Foreign Workers

One of the biggest, and most accepted, users of temporary foreign workers is the agricultural sector, which brings in thousands of workers at harvest times. (Canadian Press)
The Temporary Foreign Worker Program has ballooned into a problem that's hurting not only unemployed Canadians but those coming here from abroad for short-term jobs as well, one labour expert says.

"The irony is we had a model that worked and we scrapped it," said Jason Foster, the coordinator for Athabasca University's industrial relations program. It went from a "small, nimble" program to a large-scale one that the government "lost the capacity to manage."

The Temporary Foreign Worker Program is under intense parliamentary scrutiny at the moment, following a series of allegations about the system being abused, including by the Royal Bank of Canada, three McDonald's franchises in Victoria, B.C., and a Weyburn, Sask. pizza restaurant.
