Two weeks after their abduction from their school, more than 200 girls are still missing in Nigeria, as anger and criticism grows over the military's failure to stave off attacks by Islamic extremists. The schoolgirls, aged between 16 and 18, were taken in the early hours of the morning last Tuesday from a remote boarding school in Chibok, northeast Nigeria, reportedly by the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram. The group's name translates into, "Western education is a sin," and it's thought that the girls will be used as sex slaves and cooks.

While there have been numerous false reports and misreported statistics, the Associated Press says that at least 200 girls and young women are still believed to be missing. A number of girls escaped their captors early on from the back of the truck that was carrying them, but just how many “depends on whom you ask,” write Michelle Faul and Haruna Umar at the Associated Press. It could be 39, 43, or more than 50.

Seahawks worked out 6-Time Pro Bowl Kevin Williams on Monday

Kevin WilliamsA six-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman who has never changed teams in a career spanning more than a decade has reportedly worked out for the defending Super Bowl champions.

Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange reports the Seahawks tried out Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams on Monday.

The 33-year-old Williams has played 11 seasons for the Vikings, recording 463 tackles and 60 sacks. He has missed just five regular season games in his NFL career. Williams (6-5, 311) notched 29 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 2013.

Williams played 746 snaps for Minnesota a season ago, according to Pro Football Focus data. Were the Seahawks to add Williams, he would likely join Tony McDaniel, Brandon Mebane and Jordan Hill among the primary options inside. Williams would probably also see a reduction in reps. No Seahawks defensive tackle logged more than 546 snaps in the 2013 regular season, per PFF.

The Seahawks have taken a liking to some of the Vikings’ core players of recent seasons, most notably trading for wideout Percy Harvin last spring. Seattle also signed ex-Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield last offseason, but he did not make the club.

His name, Gennady N. Timchenko, meant little to most Americans, but buried in the Treasury Department announcement were a dozen words that President Obama and his team knew would not escape the attention of Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin. “Putin,” the statement said, “has investments in Gunvor and may have access to Gunvor funds.”

Columbus Short fired from Scandal after domestic violence incident

Quite unfortunate because he was doing good on the show. For allegedly attacking his wife and threatening to kill her and then himself, actor Columbus short has been fired from hit series, Scandal.

Columbus confirmed via a statement released to the media yesterday that he won't be returning to the blockbuster series
"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you Gladiators, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful."

Suárez wins PFA Player of the Year, Hazard Young Player of the Year

Luis Suárez has been named the Professional Footballers' Association player of the year for 2013-14, becoming the first non-European to win the award, after an excellent season for Liverpool.

Suárez beat his club-mates Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge to the prize having scored 30 goals in the Premier League so far, including two hat-tricks and four in one match, propelling Liverpool to their best campaign in recent years and within striking distance of a first title since 1990.

The Uruguayan was at the PFA ceremony in London, despite his side having lost to Chelsea at Anfield earlier on Sunday in a result that severely dented their title hopes with Manchester City winning at Crystal Palace.
