Toronto Rapper Drake Disheartened By Alton Sterling Incidence

Drake took to social media to express grief over Tuesday's death in Louisiana of Alton Sterling, with the Toronto rapper saying he is "disheartened, emotional and truly scared" after the latest police shooting of a black man.

"I woke up this morning with a strong need to say something," Drake said Wednesday night in his Instagram post.

"Last night when I saw the video of Alton Sterling being killed it left me disheartened, emotional and truly scared."

GO transit bus crash on Highway 407 leaves 1 dead in Vaughan, Ontario

One woman is dead and three people were sent to hospital after a GO bus rollover near Weston Road in Vaughan, Ont., on Wednesday.

The single-vehicle crash happened at about 10 p.m.

The bus was travelling east on GO route 47 from Hamilton to York University, according to a tweet from GO.

The Ontario Provincial Police, with cooperation from Metrolinx, the agency responsible for GO Transit, will be investigating what caused the bus to veer off the highway.

"The vehicle actually went through a pretty big portion of steel guardrail just before the concrete guardrail began," said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of OPP's Highway Safety Division.

Another Deadly Shooting Accident After Charlie Hebdo Magazine Paris Attack

Barely 24 hours after the tragic terror attack on the offices of French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, a second deadly shooting has occurred.

Two men armed with assault rifles shot at a policewoman and a street cleaner after their car was involved in an accident.

The officer was shot, and subsequently died from her injuries, The Independent reports. One of the gunmen was arrested, and the other is said to have fled.

According to reports, the street cleaner was also shot and critically wounded while trying to disarm one of the gunmen.

Police authorities are currently searching for the assailant who absconded, as well as the other two gunmen from yesterday’s attack.

U2 frontman Bono said he may never play the guitar again after a bicycle accident that injured his hand, shoulder, elbow and face, the Irish rocker said on his website.

Bono fell off his bicycle in New York's Central Park in November and underwent hours of intensive surgery to wash out his elbow and repair the bone with three metal plates and 18 screws.

Bono said in a post on his website late Thursday that the accident was more serious than he thought, and may prevent him from playing the guitar ever again.

"Recovery has been more difficult than I thought. As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again," he wrote in a New Year post titled "Bono's A to Z of 2014."

The dramatic 911 call made by a Georgia police chief after he shot his wife has been released — and she can be heard moaning in the background as he calmly explains what happened.

“Gunshot wound, accidental,” the man says, who is later identified as Peachtree City police chief William McCollom.

The 4:17 a.m. emergency call, which took place Thursday and was released today, has McCollom on the phone saying how “the gun was in the bed, I went to move it to put it to the side and it went off.”

He does not identify himself for several minutes, and when he does he uses his official title rather than his name. When the operator repeats his title back to him, he says: “Yeah unfortunately yes.”

Abusive Uganda maid pleads guilty to child abuse

The Uganda maid who was filmed battering that little girl a few weeks ago was in court today Dec. 8th where she pleaded guilty to child abuse.

Jolly Tumuhirwe, 22, who was in court with her mum, asked her parents, the girl's parents and all of Uganda to forgive her.

According to the BBC, the girl's father Eric Kamanzi broke down in court when Jolly asked for forgiveness. Jolly faces up to 15 years in prison for the crime or a fine of about $400 (£260) or both.

Her case was adjourned to Wednesday December 10th when the judge is expected to sentence her. She was led away in cuffs by prison officers after the session this morning.

When one of her children was killed six years ago, Anne Arnal never dreamed she would have to go through the same pain again.

And again.

Three of her six children – her freckle-faced, youngest boys – have died in separate accidents on the family’s farm.

Arnal says most people can’t fathom the grief she and her family are suffering. “I could never imagine how or why I would be asked to have to do this,” she says.

“You try to figure out whether you’re supposed to gain something or whether you’re supposed to change somehow or what you’re being tested for … and I don’t have the slightest idea.”

Quebec | No charges against speeding officer involved in crash that killed 5yr old

The family of a five-year-old boy is considering its legal options upon learning that a police officer will not be charged after his unmarked cruiser slammed into their car, killing the child.

The boy died four days after an unmarked Surete du Quebec cruiser slammed into his father's car as it was making a left-hand turn on a residential street in Longeuil in February.

Investigators with Montreal Police, the force that took over the investigation, informed the family last week that the officer will not face charges, even though he was speeding at the time of the collision.

The officer was travelling 122 km/h right before the accident and tried to slam on the brakes, investigators told the boy's family. The cruiser hit the family's car at a speed of 90 km/h.
The speed limit on the street was 50 km/h.

The officer was not responding to a call or to an emergency, CTV Montreal's Maya Johnson reported Wednesday. The Crown does not have to give its reasoning when it decides not to lay charges.

The boy’s parents did not want to speak to the media on Wednesday. However, relatives said they are outraged, and believe that a civilian would have been charged in the case, Johnson reported.

The parents are considering hiring a lawyer to determine what legal recourse they may have.

The boy's aunt, Islande Belance, said the entire incident is "really unfair."

"Somebody just took his life," Belance said.

She recalled the boy as "an angel," who was "full of life."
