The U.S. spent more than $600 billion on its military in 2012, according to the latest figures available from the Office of Management and Budget. Here's a look at where the money went.

Pastor of World's Largest Church Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Embezzlement. This Is Truly The End

The Rev. Cho Yong-gi, founder and pastor emeritus of Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea, one of the largest Pentecostal churches in the world, has been sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling church funds.
 
Cho was found guilty of causing $12 million in losses to the church by having officials in 2002 buy stocks owned by his eldest son, Cho Hee-jun, at four times the market value, Yonhap reported on Thursday.
 
The 78-year-old pastor, who founded the church in 1958, will also have to pay about $4.6 million in fines. The junior Cho will also be serving a three-year prison term for colluding with his father, the Seoul Central District Court ruled.

Manchester United has recorded record revenues for the second half of 2013, despite the club admitting a "disappointing" on-field performance.
Total revenue before expenses was up 18.8% to £221.4m, compared to the same period in 2012.
Vice chairman Ed Woodward said: "We once again achieved a record revenue quarter with strong contributions from our commercial and broadcasting businesses despite the current league position, which everyone from the team manager down has acknowledged is disappointing."

Canada Wins Favourite Olympic Gold


Canada captured a historic fourth Olympic gold medal in women's hockey Thursday with a 3-2 overtime win over the United States in a thrilling championship final. The only other women's team to win more consecutive Olympic gold is the U.S. in women's basketball with five in a row from 1996 to 2012.

Marie-Philip Poulin scored the winner on a power play at 8:10 of overtime for her second of the game. She had tied it up with 55 seconds remaining in regulation. Poulin was a heroine of Canada's gold in Vancouver four years ago. She scored twice in a 2-0 win over the Americans.

Canadian Natural Buy Devon Assets for $2.86 Billion

 
Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNQ), the nation’s second-largest natural gas producer, agreed to buy Devon Energy Corp. (DVN)’s conventional assets in Canada for C$3.13 billion ($2.86 billion) to boost output.
The cash purchase will add 2.2 million undeveloped acres near Canadian Natural’s fields in western Canada, President Steve Laut said in a conference call today. The acquisition, which is about 70 percent gas, will increase production at the Calgary-based company by the equivalent of 86,633 barrels a day. “This adds value in the near-, mid- and long-term,” Laut said. The company expects “pretty strong gas pricing” this year and next, he said.

Shanghai’s fashionistas have helped the city steal the Asian fashion crown from Tokyo’s Harajuku girls and Hong Kong’s hipsters.
The Chinese city beat out Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong as Asia’s most stylish city in 2013, according to a ranking from Global Language Monitor, a firm that analyzes language use around the world. Shanghai ranked No. 10 world-wide for fashion, rising 12 spots from its 2012 position, by “leading the fashion charge as China further emerges on the world stage,” the report noted. Globally, New York, Paris and London took the top three slots, respectively.

Unsuspecting Canadian Singles Find Dating Profiles On Unfamiliar Sites

When Martin Dumas signed up for the dating site love2meet.com, he had no idea he would also be signed up for Senior Dating Canada.
“I guess it comes from another site that I used,” Dumas said in an interview with CBC News from his Montreal office. He learned this after a CBC News investigation revealed his profile and picture were posted on at least four other sites without his knowledge.
All of the sites belong to Global Personals, a company based in England. Its website boasts more than 13,000 internet dating sites around the globe and at least 30 million customers. 

Fraud Alert: Beware NRG Research Group Is A Fraud

I have been hesitant to write this piece but this is Canada where we pride ourselves in good business ethics and more so, it is 21st century. From multiple complains about a NRG Research Group, I think it is high time companies knew better than hoodwink job seekers. NRG must have started on a good note, of course how could they have been in business in the first place. The company uses phone, online surveys and focus groups to source information for clients. They get information from interested participants and promise to pay for them for their services. But of recent, they post bogus job vacancy for focus panels and promise upto $30 dollars per hour.

When you apply, you are directed to their website where you will punch all your information with the hope that you can get paid for being part of a focus group. So whats the scam about that arrangement? wait a bit. This is how it goes. A staff will call you up and say you are in their database and ask some dumb questions they already got in your file. It goes like this 'Good Morning Fitz, you are invited to join in a paid focus panel that is coming up in a fortnight, it is $100 for a 90 minutes section'.

Septuagenarian Women Having ‘Best Sex Ever’? Really? (Yes)


Imagine you’re a stereotypical “old lady,” with a lined face and gray hair, walking down the street. Some young guy looks at you and thinks, “How ya doing, grandma, you old coot? Are you wearing your Depends?” Actually, no, you think, you’re wearing nice underwear because you’re going to meet your beloved to see a movie, then go home and have some really delicious sex, replete with leisurely foreplay and plenty of laughter. You pass a juicy 38-year-old walking down the street with her two little kids in tow, and think, “Poor dear. She won’t have really good sex again for a good 20 years.”
