Dollarama, the Most Successful Retailer In Canada

Image result for Dollarama
Most would agree that Dollarama Inc currently takes the crown as being the most successful retailer in the country. And while the market has been firing on all cylinders for the past few years, talk of a slowdown and correction doesn’t seem to be a concern for Dollarama. Dollarama provided the latest quarterly update this week which showed the strength of the company and the opportunity the market still has for Dollarama to expand even further.

For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2017, Dollarama reported net earnings of $146.1 million, or $1.23 per diluted common share, representing an impressive increase over the $124.8 million, or $1.00 per diluted common share, in the same quarter last year. Dollarama reported sales of $854.5 million in the quarter — an increase of 11.5% over the same quarter last year. Comparable same-store sales increased by 5.8% for the quarter — over and above the 7.9% growth registered in the previous year. EBITDA grew by 19.1%, coming in at $226.2 million, representing 26.5% of sales.

Dollarama also announced a 10% increase to the quarterly dividend, which will now pay $0.11 per common share. Even with the latest increase, the stock is unlikely to be seen as a great income-producing investment, as the yield is far below 1%.

On Mali's dusty border with Ebola-stricken Guinea, travelers have a new stop: Inside a white tent, masked medical workers zap incomers with infrared thermometer guns and instruct them to wash their hands in chlorinated water.

After five recent Ebola deaths, Mali has become a front line in the fight against the virus, especially in the border town of Kouremale which two of those victims passed through last month. Malian authorities, with help from the U.N. and aid groups, this week deployed medical teams at the border to try to stop the disease's spread.

"You are Mali's portal. Don't be the weak link in the fight against Ebola. Mali must not become a land of propagation for Ebola in the world," President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita urged medical staffers and border guards during a visit as the deployment began. "We are counting on you to meet this challenge."

Manitoba teen finds $2,000 stashed in suit at church rummage sale

Tim Smith/Brandon Sun Grade nine student and Good Samaritan Tom Campbell shows the wallets that he found in the jacket he's wearing that held $2000.
14-year-old boy got more than he bargained for when he tried on a black suit jacket at a recent church rummage sale in Brandon, Man.

Tom Campbell slipped on the jacket last Saturday while shopping with his grandmother, Vivian Mitchell, at the Knox United Church event.

He slipped his hand into a pocket and pulled out a wallet containing 20 crisp $50 bills, then pulled a second wallet from another pocket, which was also stuffed with 50s.

The windfall totalled $2,000, which Tom handed over to sale organizers.

The money was traced to a family that had donated the clothing following the death of a loved one.
The cash was returned but Tom was rewarded with $200 for his honesty.

Oh Yes! 'My boyfriend said I was too fat for sex so I dropped 30 stone'

A cruel comment from her boyfriend during a romantic getaway made 22 year old Paige Way to drop from a whopping size 28 to a size 12. Paige said her boyfriend told her that belly was too fat for them to have sex. The comment from her boyfriend shamed her into shedding a lot of weight.
"It was absolutely mortifying when my boyfriend told me that my belly was getting in the way, but it gave me the push I needed to finally do something about my weight. I'd always been big as a child, and then I was 'the fat one' in my bunch of friends. Men would say horrible things about me on nights out, like "God, look at the size of her."

Wow! Girl's present from dad turns her into a multimillionaire on her 19th birthday

19 year old Deisi Ocampo from Chicago is now a multimillionaire after accepting and scratching two lottery tickets her dad gave her as birthday present on October 6th.

Deisi told ABC News exactly what happened
"I rarely play the lottery. My dad buys tickets once in a while and thought it would fun to get me two tickets for my birthday. The following day, I didn’t think much of it when I scratched off the first set of numbers. But when I finished scratching the second ticket, I began to shake and sweat out of nervousness. I just couldn’t believe it was real.”
The birthday girl had won $4 million dollars.

Meet Former Escort Who Had To Fake Orgasm For $1000 Per Hour

Winning: A former high class escort - rated among the top one per cent in her field - has detailed her carefully calculated seduction strategies (stock image)
ANNABEL FENWICK ELLIOTT | MAILONLINE

A former high class escort - rated among the top one per cent in her field by The Erotic Review, 'the Yelp of the commercial sex world' - has detailed her carefully calculated strategies.

Svetlana Z, as she refers to herself, moved to New York from Chelyabinsk, Russia, when she was 19 years old and had $300 to her name. Lured by the promise of quick money, she entered the escort industry and soon made a small fortune by catering to investment bankers, 90per cent of them married.

'Mostly, I offered understanding,' she wrote for Medium. 'The truth is, even for guys who hire me for three or four hours, the sex usually only takes about 15 minutes.' Not bad for $1,000 an hour.

Svetlana - who describes herself as 5ft 7in, 119lbs, with long legs, hazel eyes, full lips and a slender figure -  remarks that when it did come to sex, however short-lived, massaging her client's ego was key.

Around 98per cent of men wanted to perform oral sex on her, and 80per cent of them would ask if she'd had an orgasm, or insist she had multiple orgasms before they did. This wasn't about her pleasure, of course, it was their need to 'prove themselves.'

Svetlana faked orgasms with relative ease and presumably on nearly every occasion. Her mind, she says, was always in business mode.

She refers to one instance in which a client asked to pour honey all over her before they had sex. She agreed - but only after he agreed to pay triple her hourly rate - and she spent the whole rampant session mulling over cleaning the sheets and re-doing her hair and make-up.

Success Story | Victoria Beckham Tops List as Britain’s Most Successful Entrepreneur

Spice Girls was a long time ago! According to Management Today magazine, Victoria Beckham is Britain’s most successful entrepreneur.

The 40-year-old former singer started topped the list which had over 100 business people after her fashion empire has grown over the years. She started her eponymous label in 2008, and has since then grown her staff base from 2 to 100, and had a financial turn over from roughly £1 million to almost £20 million in 5 years.

According to Andrew Saunders of Management Today magazine, who compiled the list based on the past 5 years, told The Daily Telegraph – “She’s got a real business, some design talent and some business nous. She gets a lot of stick for being a celeb fashionista but I don’t think that’s fair. She has built something real out of her own celebrity which is quite a contemporary story. She deserves to be celebrated.“

Victoria is married to football legend David Beckham with 4 kids – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz & Harper.

She also launched her first stand alone boutique in London last month and according to Management Today, has a personal fortune of up to R3 million today which attributed to her top spot placement.

To compile the list, the magazine took factors like jobs created, overall estimated wealth and sales figures over a five-year period. Others in the list include Amit & Meeta Patel (founders of pharmaceutical group Auden Mckenzie), and Mahmud Kamani of Boohoo.com took second and third place in the list.

Ebola Survivors | How NBC News Freelancer Survived Ebola

Image: Ashoka Mukpo

MAGGIE FOX | NBC
Being young and healthy helped Ashoka Mukpo pull through Ebola, but he’ll be weak for months, doctors who treated him said Wednesday.

Mukpo, a freelance journalist and camera operator who was on contract with NBC News when he got sick in Liberia, left the biocontainment unit at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after getting two blood tests a day apart that cleared him of the virus.

“After enduring weeks where it was unclear whether I would survive, I’m walking out of the hospital on my own power, free from Ebola. This blessing is in no small measure a result of the world class care I received at the Nebraska Medical Center,” Mukpo said in a statement.

Mukpo will also give exclusive interviews to .NBC News

“Obviously, he has done well and we are very happy about it,” said Dr. Angela Hewlett, who helped lead his treatment. “We are not sure what made him better. We are just glad he’s better.”

Mukpo, who arrived at the hospital Oct. 6, got the supportive care that’s become standard in the United States — regular testing and replacement of compounds called electrolytes, which get flushed out of the body during the severe vomiting and diarrhea that mark the mid-stages of Ebola disease. The treatment is similar to what works for cholera.

Imagine plunging off an 876-foot-high bridge with only a parachute as a lifeline.

Now imagine doing it in a wheelchair.

That’s what Lonnie Bissonnette will be doing Saturday. He even sticks the landing.

Paralyzed below the waist since a 2004 parachuting accident, Bissonnette will return to southern West Virginia for another chance to launch himself on wheels from the New River Gorge Bridge.

Tens of thousands of people will watch him and scores of other parachutists, zip liners and rappellers Saturday during the annual Bridge Day festival in Fayetteville.

“It’s scary every single time for me,” Bissonnette said. “And I think that’s part of the lure, is the exhilaration after the jump. If I didn’t have that fear before the jump, I think then the jump wouldn’t be so exhilarating.”

The New River Gorge Bridge, the third-highest bridge in the United States, opened in 1977. Bridge Day started three years later.

World's Best Rugby League Player Quits To Join NFL

Dave Hunt / AAP Images
BuzzFeed |

Hayne, 26, fresh off claiming the sport’s best and fairest award shocked the rugby league community by informing coaches and management he’d be leaving the game.

“It’s always been my dream of playing in the NFL and at my age, this is my one and only chance at having a crack,” he told a press conference of shocked rugby league reporters.

Hayne also stopped several times and was overcome with tears when discussing his journey from living in housing commission in western Sydney to the pinnacle of rugby league.

“My dream was to buy my Mum a house. I’ve done that.”

Hayne becomes the third big name player to exit the rugby league this season, with both Sam Burgess and Sonny Bill Williams making the switch to rugby union.

He told the press conference, there’s no truth to the rumors he’d be joining the Seattle Seahawks and would give himself 12 months to become (most likely) a punt returner.

Inspirational Reel: Double Amputee, 24, Lands Modelling Contract

A young amputee who was forced by a lifelong condition to have both her legs removed has become a model.

Lizzy Holmes, 24, who was born with 'club foot' - meaning both her feet were back to front - has suffered a lifetime of chronic pain and endured 36 operations, the first when she was just 10 weeks old.

Her first leg was amputated below the knee the day after her wedding to soldier Lewis Georgeson, 21. Now her other leg has been amputated - but that hasn't stopped her launching a modelling career.

She said: 'I feel amazing, relieved and free. I have wanted to remove them for a long time as I know life will be much easier for me with prosthetic legs.'

Lizzy, from Oakwood, Leeds, was born with the condition, which has meant a lot of pain and operations, and regular morphine doses just to manage the pain.

'I may never be completely pain-free, as the way I've walked has affected my spine, but I already feel much better,' she said.

'While I am fit and young I can adapt to my new life. I don't let my disability stop me from doing anything. I love to swim and I am looking forward to hopefully raising some money myself so I can buy some special wet legs to swim properly.'

But before his stratospheric rise to wealth and power at the head of his company, an internet giant which dominates the Chinese online economy, Ma couldn't even make it into a chicken shop.

But, hoping to better his lot in the early 1990s he applied, and was turned down for, a slew of other jobs, including with a KFC in the city.
