Featured: National Anthem Canada

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

On Canada Day, July 1, 1980, 'O Canada!' was proclaimed the National Anthem of Canada, 100 years after it's debut performance in 1880 for St. Jean-Baptiste Day celebrations. Composed by Calixa Lavallée, French lyrics were written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier.  It has been noted that the opening theme of "O Canada" bears a strong resemblance to the "March of the Priests" from the opera The Magic Flute, composed in 1791 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and that Lavallée's melody was inspired by Mozart's tune. Below is the score sheet
