Big Blow to the Economy as Shaw Lays off 400 Workers

Shaw Communications says it plans to lay off about three per cent of its workforce, or 400 jobs, as it works to consolidate operations.

The company says the changes will be focused on bringing its cable, satellite, Internet and home phone services under one umbrella to make them more efficient.

The reworked operations will be divided into two units — one which delivers Shaw services to residential consumers and another which handles business customers.
