Kevin Durant of Oklahoma Thunder Makes Record, Wins 4th NBA Scoring Title

Kevin Durant is in line to win his first NBA Most Valuable Player Award this season as the Oklahoma City Thunder forward has put together a career year and tonight he joined a group that includes Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history to lead the league in points scored in five straight seasons.

Durant has won four scoring championships in that time frame and would have had a fifth, but Carmelo Anthony won in 2012-2013 with a 28.7 average to Durant’s 28.1, but Durant had more total points that season.

Entering the season finale against the Detroit Pistons, Durant’s 31.9 points per game represents a career high for the five-time All-Star who also posted a career-high 5.5 assists per game to go with his 7.4 rebound average.

With 42 points on Wednesday, the seven-year vet joined another elite club with three Hall of Famer’s. With a 32-7-5 average he joins Wilt, Jordan and Elgin Baylor as the only four players with that stat line in NBA history.

The Thunder clinched the No. 2 with a one-point win tonight against the Pistons and will play the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
