Moncton RCMP Funeral: 'I want him back so badly' brother says

The regimental funeral for three Mounties killed in the line of duty last week is underway in Moncton, N.B., with thousands of RCMP and other law enforcement officials from across Canada in attendance.

The caskets were carried into the Moncton Coliseum by RCMP officers dressed in their red serge uniforms.

RCMP Cpl. Chantal Farrah welcomed the thousands of RCMP officers, other law enforcement officers and dignitaries to the funeral.

"The sudden and violent death of Const. [Fabrice Georges] Gevaudan. Const. [Douglas James] Larche and Const. [Dave Joseph] Ross have left everyone in the policing community and in the general public suffering a profound loss," Farrah said.

"As a family, as a police service and as a community, together we mourn and grieve for our fallen heroes."

Daniel Larche was the first to honour the memory of one of the slain officers. He spoke about how his “little brother Doug” was “selfless in every aspect of life.”

“He always put others before himself, even in death,” he said.
