Miss Canada Chanel Beckenlehner participates in Miss Universe, as seen in her swimsuit and during the national costume show at the 63rd annual Miss Universe Competition in Miami, Fla. |
Canada’s Miss Universe contestant found a way to stick out from the competition, quite literally, during Wednesday night’s national costume round.
In homage to her country’s national sport, Chanel Beckenlehner, 26, marched onstage in a bedazzled hockey uniform, complete with hockey sticks arranged in the likeness of peacock feathers.
The Caledon, Ont., native also wore knee-high skates and a skirt made of netting. A Stanley Cup was perched atop her massive white wig, while a scoreboard flashed behind her head.
Other over-the-top examples included Miss Great Britain’s Queen’s Guard outfit.
The contest, currently underway in Doral, Fla., will crown a winner Sunday night.
