Alberta RCMP officer shot while investigating a car theft dies

The Canadian Press
An Alberta Mountie who was shot in the head while investigating a vehicle theft in a community just outside Edmonton last weekend has died.

RCMP say Const. David Matthew Wynn, a husband and father of three sons, died in an Edmonton hospital this morning.

They say the 42-year-old officer never regained consciousness after he and an auxiliary officer, Const. Derek Bond, were wounded at a casino in St. Albert early Saturday morning.
Bond was struck in the right arm and torso, but was released from hospital several hours after the shooting.

Deputy RCMP Commissioner Marianne Ryan says in a statement that the force has lost a dedicated member in the line of duty.

Mounties say there will be a regimental funeral for Wynn in the Edmonton area, with details to follow. RIP David
