Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams Champions of French Open

World number one Serena Williams won her 16th Grand Slam title and her second French Open title. She beat defending champion Maria Sharapova 6-4 6-4 at Rolland Garos. Serena won her first French Open in 2002 against sister Venus William
Rafael Nadal claimed an historic eighth French Open title after defeating compatriot David Ferrer 6-3 6-2 6-3 in a one-sided encounter. The defending champion Nadal became the undisputed 'King of Clay' after winning the same major eight times and his 12th Grand Slam title overall. He holds the record for the most wins at a Grand Slam. He has now won 59 out of 60 matches at Roland Garros and has been the sensation of 2013, winning 43 of 45 matches and seven titles since his return in February from a seven-month injury lay-off to rest his troublesome knees.
