Red River College president resigns for 'personal and family reasons'

A Winnipeg college president who once charged the school for golf shoes and car washes has resigned.

The board of governors at Red River College says in a statement that Stephanie Forsyth is leaving for personal and family reasons.

Forsyth had been president for four years.

She came under fire for expensing items such as golf shoes, her driver's licence and ballet tickets in 2011.

The college was also facing a $2-million shortfall in the spring and had reportedly lost a number of senior officials.

In its statement, the board thanks Forsyth for her work and says a search for her replacement has already begun.
