WTF! Victoria babysitter attacked by child; barricades self on balcony to call cops

A frightened babysitter called Victoria police for help Monday when the young child she was caring for allegedly kicked and tried to strangle her.

Const. Mike Russell, spokesman for Victoria police, said officers were called to the apartment in the 100-block of Wilson Street late Monday afternoon following a 911 call from the babysitter.

The babysitter, who is an adult, reported that the child had kicked her and tried to strangle her, said Russell.

She called police after barricading herself on the apartment’s balcony while the child was inside, he said.

Russell said the child is suspected to have mental health issues, which he said may have played a role in the incident.

The babysitter was not seriously injured, and the child will likely not face any charges given their age, he said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
