Thank You American Idol For The Memories

This marks the final season of the most popular music show in TV history. Trent Harmon is the 15th and final American Idol winner.

Harmon tumbled to the stage in surprise as host Ryan Seacrest announced his name as winner of the show, which ended its remarkable run Thursday.

"I know that I have a God-given ability, but I didn't want to take it for granted. I wanted to work so, so hard, and she pushed me to do it," a tearful Harmon said of runner-up La'Porsha Renae, who stood poised and smiling by his side.

American Idol debuted in June 2002, during the summer broadcast doldrums, an indication that Fox didn't have high hopes for the imported singing contest based on producer Simon Fuller's hit British series, Pop Idol. The show averaged more than 30 million weekly viewers at its 2006 peak and ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for nine consecutive years, averaged about 11 million last season (still enough by today's standards to land it in the top 20, but with fewer advertiser-favoured younger viewers).

A mum in America has been charged with two counts of murder after the remains of three babies were found in the filthy, vermin-infested home she shared with her boyfriend and four other children. Erika Murray, 31, was charged with foetal death concealment, witness intimidation and permitting substantial injury to a child.

Her boyfriend, Ray Rivera, is charged with offences including assault and battery on a child and reckless endangerment of a child.

Prosecutors described the horrific conditions that four children - aged from six months to 13 years - were found alive in at the house.


Authorities said there were piles of dirty diapers, rubbish strewn everywhere, and remains of dead animals. The children were removed from the address in August after a 10-year-old boy went to a neighbour's house, and asked for help in quieting a crying baby.

American Plane Crash Averted As Flight Carrying 240 Passengers Makes Emergency Landing

American Airlines flight AA280 carrying 240 passengers and 15 crew members from Seoul to Dallas yesterday experienced a mid-air scare over the Pacific Ocean and was forced to make an emergency landing near Tokyo.

The flight was said to have entered winds up to 150mph- causing a violent shaking which lasted for around an hour. 15 out of the 240 passengers on-board sustained different injuries during the turbulence, but are glad they made it out alive.

The emergency landing saved the situation a passenger said when the plane landed. More photos below.

Beverly Johnson Becomes First African American Model to Accuse Bill Cosby of Rape

Since the rape allegations against Bill Cosby started piling up a few weeks ago, there was a common trend with the women who were all Caucasian, models and TV stars.

The first African-American woman with allegations against the American comedy king has now stepped forward and it is Beverly Johnson, a woman who made history as the first African-American model to appear on the cover of American Vogue magazine.

According to 62-year-old Beverly Johnson, even though Bill Cosby drugged her he was not able to take advantage of her because she was very conscious of what was happening.

Like most Americans, I spent the 60s, 70s, and part of the 80s in awe of Bill Cosby and his total domination of popular culture. He was the first African American to star in a dramatic television series, I Spy, a show my family in Buffalo, New York, always watched. Cosby cut a striking figure on-screen then. He was funny, smart, and even elegant—all those wonderful things many white Americans didn’t associate with people of color. In fact, as I thought of going public with what follows, a voice in my head kept whispering, “Black men have enough enemies out there already, they certainly don’t need someone like you, an African American with a familiar face and a famous name, fanning the flames.”

American football fan passes note to man after spotting his gf sending romantic texts to another man

An American football fan who went to watch a game passed a note to a man sitting in front of him (note pictured right) after spotting the man's pregnant girlfriend sending romantic text messages to some other guy named 'Jason' through out the match.

The man named Lye said he was there to watch a game when he saw the woman sending messages like'I wish I was with you all day' and 'I will see you as soon as I am done with him', and couldn't help himself but tell the woman's partner at the end of the game what she'd been up to. 

 

He then later posted his experience on Facebook, explaining to his followers what happened and even shared a photo of the note he sent to the man and a picture of the couple at the game.

American and South African hostages murdered in Yemen

A British-born American photojournalist and a South African teacher held by Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen were killed today during a failed U.S.-led rescue attempt. The raid was ordered by President Barack Obama because he feared imminent danger to the reporter.

Al-Qaeda had initially posted a video online threatening to kill photographer Luke Somers (pictured above). American forces in conjunction with Yemeni ground troops then launched a second rescue attempt.

 

The South African, Pieree Korkie was supposed to be released tomorrow December 7. The aid group helping to negotiate his release even told his wife; "The wait is almost over."

 

Both Somers and Korkie "were murdered by the AQAP terrorists during the course of the operation," 

 

In a statement, President Obama did not address Korkie by name, only saying he "authorized the rescue of any other hostages held in the same location as Luke." The South African government did not immediately comment on Korkie's death.

American wife to get $530million in UK biggest divorce payout

A judge in a London High Court ruled that the American wife of a British Tycoon be given $530m in a divorce payout. This is considered to be the biggest divorce settlement so far in British history.

The judge awarded Jamie Cooper-Hohn $493 million in cash and the rest in the form of a property in Connecticut and adjustments to her share of a pension.

A full judgment will be published in December, but the figures were cited during a court hearing yesterday November 27.
