Ottawa Teen prostitution pimp leader Kailey Oliver-Machado sent to adult prison
Ottawa Courthouse
An 18-year-old Ottawa girl who led an operation that trafficked other teenagers using social media such as Facebook and Twitter will serve the remainder of her sentence in an adult prison, a judge determined today. 15 at time of arrest and now 18, Ottawa teen has just under 3 years left in sentence
Kailey Oliver-Machado was sentenced in November to 6½ years in a correctional facility, but Crown and defence lawyers argued over whether she should serve the time in prison or at a youth facility.
Justice Diane Lahaie heard the arguments from both sides on Jan. 6 and said she needed more time to consider the decision.
On Wednesday, she said Oliver-Machado did a good job finishing her high school diploma while in custody, but a federal penitentiary is in her best interest because she has finished all the rehabilitation courses at the youth facility she has been in since June 2012.
Lahaie also said Oliver-Machado needs special staff and an individual rehabilitation plan so she can be reintegrated back into the community once her sentence is over.

A teenaged boy who set off the fire sprinklers at his Nanaimo, B.C., high school while playing a prank has broken new legal ground and cost his parents nearly $50,000 in court-ordered damages.
A teenaged boy who set off the fire sprinklers at his Nanaimo, B.C., high school while playing a prank has broken new legal ground and cost his parents nearly $50,000 in court-ordered damages.
The case involves a then-14-year-old boy who caused $48,630 in damage when he attached a padlock to just one sprinkler head inside Wellington secondary but set off other sprinklers.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Shelley Fitzpatrick says its the first time ever that a court has wrestled with interpreting the section of the School Act that concerns intentionally destroying school property.
The school district argued during the civil trial that the boy, who The Canadian Press has chosen not to name because of his age, was negligent and his intentional act caused the damage.

Heartbreaking Suicide Letter From A Transgender Teen

17 year old transgender teen Leelah (Josh) Alcorn committed suicide on Sunday Dec. 28th by walking in front of a tractor trailer on a highway in Ohio. A few hours later, her suicide note, which she posted on her Tumblr page through scheduled publishing, went up. In the heartbreaking suicide note, she blamed her death on her religious parents who she said refused to acknowledge her gender and forbade her from transitioning into a girl. Read her suicide note below...
If you are reading this, it means that I have committed suicide and obviously failed to delete this post from my queue.
Please don’t be sad, it’s for the better. The life I would’ve lived isn’t worth living in… because I’m transgender. I could go into detail explaining why I feel that way, but this note is probably going to be lengthy enough as it is.

Nicki Minaj opens up about Her Abortion as a Teen on Rolling Stone
Covering the latest issue of RollingStone magazine, the rapper opens up again about everything from her breakup to her writing process in a candid, revealing interview.
Read excerpts from her interview below:
On opening up about her breakup: One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life because it’s something I’ve kept very private. I had to learn to do something as simple as sleep alone. I struggled with ‘Do I express these feelings?’ And I decided there’s no reason for me to hide. I’m a vulnerable woman, and I’m proud of that.
On her abortion & teenage pregnancy: I thought I was going to die. I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through. It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child.

Christian Teen Commits Suicide Over Fears About Telling Her Family She Is A Lesbian
Lizzie Lowe, 14, who was found hanged at Fletcher Moss Park in Didsbury Photo: MEN
A teenage girl hanged herself because she feared telling her devoutly Christian parents she might be gay, an inquest has heard.
Elizabeth Lowe, 14, known as Lizzie, had confided in friends that she thought she might be a lesbian, but was struggling to reconcile her feelings with her own deep faith.
She was also worried about telling her parents, but her father said her fears were misplaced and she would have received a “wealth of love and acceptance”.
The schoolgirl from Didsbury in Manchester sparked concern when she sent a text to a friend on the evening of September 10, which ended with the words, “….stay strong. I am sorry”.
The friend told her mother who alerted the police, but tragically Lizzie was found hanged in a local park.
