Actress Jennifer Aniston Reactions to Oscar Snub

Jennifer Aniston isn't eating cake by her lonesome. Hours after it was revealed that she had been snubbed by the Oscars, the Cake actress joined several other A-listers at the Critics' Choice Awards in L.A. on Thursday, Jan. 15, appearing to be just fine.

"I'd be lying if there wasn't a little [aw], but after that there's a lot of, 'but look at tonight, look at the Globes, look at the SAGs!'" Aniston, 45, told Access Hollywood on the red carpet. "We're an embarrassment of wonderful riches [for] a movie that hasn't even been released and is teensy tiny. This is all just cherries on top of something that was really special to us. So we're really excited."

Despite the snub, Aniston was nominated for a Golden Globe and Critics' Choice Award for her work. (Moore came out on top in both.) In addition, she has also received support from her famous pals Witherspoon and Moore since the Oscars announcement. "[Reese] sent me such a sweet email, as did Julianne [Moore].

President Obama to host Oscar Selma screening at WhiteHouse

President Obama is hosting a special screening of the Oscar-nominated film Selma at the White House.

The film depicts the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama led by Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

It is a contender for best picture at next month's Academy Awards, alongside seven other films including Birdman, Boyhood and Grand Budapest Hotel.

Cast and crew, including director Ava DuVernay, are expected to attend the screening on Friday.

The film picked up just two nominations for the Oscars, the second being a nomination for best original song, Glory, by John Legend and Common.

Responding for the first time to the firestorm of criticism over the lack of diversity in this year's Oscar nominations, film academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs says the all-white acting slate inspires her to accelerate the academy's push to be more inclusive. She also hopes the film industry as a whole will continue to strive for greater diversity.

The first black president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences spoke out Friday night in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press about the Oscar nominations and the widespread criticism that followed.

All 20 of this year's acting contenders are white and there are no women in the directing or writing categories. After the nominations were announced Thursday morning, the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite started trending on Twitter.

Hollywood Golden Era Oscar Winner Dies At 104

Actress Luise Rainer, who became the first winner of consecutive Oscars in the 1930s, has died at the age of 104. The German-born star was named best actress in 1936 and 1937 - a feat achieved by only five actors in Academy Awards history to date.

Her achievement made her a force in the golden age of Hollywood cinema, but was also a curse, making her last major film in 1943.

According to her only daughter, she died from pneumonia at her London home.

Oscar Winning Actress Reese Witherspoon Blames Divorce For Career Floundering

Academy Award winning Reese Witherspoon opened up about her divorce from Cruel Intentions co-star Ryan Phillippe in a new interview with Charlie Rose, which aired on "60 Minutes" Sunday, December 21
 

Familiar with the “Oscar curse” following successful actresses, who after taking home an Oscar split from their husband, Witherspoon reflected on how far she’s come after her 2007 divorce from Phillippe.

“Phew, that was a tough year that followed,” she told Rose. “I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better.”

“You know you can’t really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs,” she said. “I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn’t making things I was passionate about, I was just kind of working. It was really clear the audiences weren’t responding to anything I was putting out there.”
