A-List Ryan Gosling and Denis Villeneuve Lead List of Canada’s Oscar Nominees

Canadian Oscar nominees Denis Villeneuve and Ryan Gosling pulled away from their jam-packed schedules Tuesday morning to marvel over their Academy Award kudos.

They chatted by phone soon after Villeneuve learned he’d snagged his first directing nomination for the aliens-have-landed thriller Arrival, and Gosling picked up a best acting nod, one of a leading 14 nominations for La La Land.

“We are both proud of each other and happy for each other. It’s quite a nice ride for both of us and I’m very, very happy for what he did,” Villeneuve said from Los Angeles.

“Ryan is a kind of comical genius. He has that sense. He’s a very, very strong actor and I’m very proud of what he did in La La Land.”

Arrival is also up for best picture and six other awards, with several Canadian nominees in categories including production design and sound.

According to reports, Ray J had to call 911 after his co-star and girlfriend threatened to kill herself.

Ray J made a frantic call to 911 and told the dispatcher that his ex was threatening to kill herself because he had broken off their relationship. He explained that he was very concerned because there’s a gun in her house and he just went through the murder/suicide of his friends Earl Hayes and Stephanie Moseley

According to reports, cops went to the house and didn’t find Princess. They however later learned that Ray J had spoken to her since the 911 call and that she is fine and unharmed.

The Canadian pop singer hasn’t been spotted in public since September. Now she’s reportedly told a fan through a direct message on Twitter that she’s been unwell.

The fan had been asking Lavigne what she’s been working on in her absence.

In a screenshot of the conversation posted by @AvrilMusicChart, Lavigne appears to respond to the fan’s questions: “I feel bad because I haven’t been able to say anything to the fans to let them (know) why I’ve been absent . . . I’m not feeling well. I’m having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers.”

Later, Lavigne — who has been married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger since 2013 — responded publicly with a “thank you” to the same Twitter user, who had tweeted the hashtags #GetWellSoonAvril and #PrayForAvril. Fans are now using those hashtags to offer their support for Lavigne.

It’s all fueling speculation over what may be ailing the 30-year-old singer from Napanee, Ont. There have been no updates on Lavigne’s official website since April, and there are no upcoming events for the “Hello Kitty” singer currently scheduled.

These reported health woes come on the heels of lingering speculation over issues in her marriage. But Kroeger squashed the reports on a recent ET Canada appearance, dismissing them as “rumour mill stuff.”
