Canada’s main immigration website appeared to suffer repeated outages on Tuesday night as Trump took the lead in several major states and his prospects for winning the US presidency turned markedly higher. Data from Google suggests searches for ‘move to Canada’ spiked significantly during the night as Trump victories unfolded in key battleground states

Some users in the United States, Canada and Asia saw an internal server error message when trying to access the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.

When the Guardian clicked on the page it would not load and a “this page isn’t working” error message came up.

Alberta Company 'Be Thankful Message' Received Backlash

That blunt message delivered within a missive from a PermaCorp manager has drawn ire online over recent weeks and has forced the Edmonton industrial manufacturing company to backtrack.
The message written on an office whiteboard at the company that employs about 80 people was photographed and posted online recently.

The message begins with the declaration of "Why you should be thankful for your job at PermaCorp" and then lists off the reasons — including the fact, according to the manager, that they receive a lot of resumes.

The dramatic 911 call made by a Georgia police chief after he shot his wife has been released — and she can be heard moaning in the background as he calmly explains what happened.

“Gunshot wound, accidental,” the man says, who is later identified as Peachtree City police chief William McCollom.

The 4:17 a.m. emergency call, which took place Thursday and was released today, has McCollom on the phone saying how “the gun was in the bed, I went to move it to put it to the side and it went off.”

He does not identify himself for several minutes, and when he does he uses his official title rather than his name. When the operator repeats his title back to him, he says: “Yeah unfortunately yes.”

Hamilton Woman In Ontario Keeps Husband’s Corpse in Bedroom for 6 Months Hoping for Resurrection

A devoutly religious Canadian Christian woman, Kaling Wald, kept her husband’s decomposing corpse in their bedroom for six months because she believed God would resurrect him.

According to CTV News, Wald’s  husband, Peter, suffered from Diabetes and did not seek treatment when his foot became infected, because he believed God would heal him.

Peter’s health deteriorated, and he went into a coma in March and died before the end of the month.

Reports state that Wald and her 5 children, who are between the ages of 11 and 22, “thought Peter would be resurrected and therefore kept the door locked and waited for him to come to life.” They prayed fervently everyday for the miracle to manifest.

Afghan couple whooped 100 times for sex before marriage

An Afghan man and his girlfriend were each given 100 lashes in public for having sex outside of marriage, officials in the eastern Afghan province of Kapisa told EFE news agency.

According to The Times of India, Dozens of people witnessed the punishment of the couple, aged 19 and 21, according to governor of Kohistan region, Mohamed Osman Haqyar Ahmadi. They were arrested a month ago and sentenced after a lengthy trial, he said Tuesday.

“The punishment was applied to both in accordance with the rules of Islamic Sharia law, because they are of legal age to be punished,” Ahmadi said.

He stressed that both the guilty parties accepted the sentence imposed on them and declined to file an appeal. After submitting to their court-ordered punishment, they got married to legalize their relationship.

The Afghan constitution includes provisions for the strict interpretation of Islamic law, which allows for the prosecution and sentencing of persons having relations outside of marriage.

Lashings and public executions were common punishments in Afghanistan under the hardcore fundamentalist Taliban regime, which was ousted during the US invasion of 2001

Ottawa website hacked with dancing banana photo

The City of Ottawa says it doesn’t believe any sensitive information has been compromised after its website was hacked.

Visitors to the site for several hours Friday ended up seeing an image of a dancing banana and a brief text message directed against an officer with the city’s police force. There has been no comment from police.

In a release Saturday, the city says it is “confident that no corporate or resident information was compromised as a result of the breach.”

Gulf News reports that a Saudi Man divorced his wife after she failed to answer his WhatsApp message. The couple had been married for 2 years and recently, the man had complained that his wife spent too much time chatting with friends rather than taking care of their home and child.

The final straw came when he sent her a WhatsApp message while he was at work. With the help of WhatsApp’s new feature, he could see that she had read the message but did not reply. He became worried and rushed home from work, only to find her relaxing watching TV and chatting with friends. At that point, he declared that he wanted a divorce.

According to Chinese online news site, Kotaku, a love-struck man in the Guangzhou district in China decided to propose to his girlfriend in the middle of a heart constructed out of 99 brand new iPhones that he bought for the special occasion and invited a few friends to witness the event. And guess what happened? The girlfriend turned down the proposal.

US Scientists discover virus that makes people more stupid

 

Have you ever wondered what is responsible for unspeakable stupidity? Well some US scientists might have the answer, having discovered an algae virus which some call “stupid virus” that infects human brains and makes people more stupid. The surprise virus discovery was made by a team at the Johns Hopkins Medical School and the University of Nebraska while undertaking a study into throat micro-organisms.

 

90 people participated in the study and 40 tested positive for the stupid virus. It was then proved that those who had tested positive performed worse on tests that were designed to measure visual processing and attention spans.

Oops! CNN Accidentally States that Obama has Been Killed

A CNN video producer has committed a major faux pas by accidentally replacing the name “Osama” with “Obama” in the following caption “Seal who  Claims he Killed Obama Under Attack.”

According to Sydney Morning Herald, the error occurred over the weekend, during the Erin Burnett OutFront show, and the topic of discussion was Robert O’Neill, the man who recently claimed to have fired the shots that killed former Al Qaeda mastermind, Osama Bin Laden in 2011.

The wrong caption was reportedly on display for about 45 seconds before it was rectified. However, the correction came a bit too late, as viewers had already noticed the error, and publicized it on social media.

Oops! Man mistakenly orders $3,750 wine thinking it was $37.50

An occasional wine-drinker asked a waitress to recommend a decent wine for him and his guests at a meeting. She recommended one and said it cost "thirty seven fifty". Thinking she meant $37.50, Joe Lentini ordered the wine and was given a huge bill $4,700.61, including tax.

It was bottle of the vintage wine, Screaming Eagle, Oakville 2011.

‘I asked the waitress if she could recommend something decent because I don't have experience with wine. She pointed to a bottle on the menu. I didn’t have my glasses. I asked how much and she said, “Thirty-seven fifty.” Joe said

It's known as the 'Ebola handshake', which involves touching the person you're greeting with your elbow.

Ms Power, the U.S ambassador to the UN, touched elbows on Tuesday with Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf during a news conference in the city of Monrovia.
