Foreign Minister John Baird meets with Israel's prime minister today as he continues a trip through the Middle East.
Baird is expected to talk to Benjamin Netanyahu about about regional security issues, the Middle East peace process and trade.
Baird received a less than warm greeting on Sunday when he went to meet with Palestinian officials.
Demonstrators unhappy with Canada's staunch pro-Israel stance pelted Baird's motorcade with eggs and shoes but none struck the foreign minister.

Palestine to Seek War Crime Charges Against Israel

Palestine to Seek War-Crimes Charges Against Israel

B O'Connor | Gawker
A day after the U.N. Security Council rejected a Palestinian resolution to end Israeli occupation by 2017, President Mahmoud Abbas announced that Palestine would pursue war-crimes charges against the Jewish state in the International Criminal Court.

"They attack us and our land every day, to whom are we to complain?" Abbas told a gathering of Palestinian leaders, according to Reuters. "The Security Council let us down—where are we to go?" The remarks were broadcast on official television.

Israel is not a member of the international court at The Hague, and does not recognize its jurisdiction. The court has no police force of its own, according to the Associated Press, "but it could issue arrest warrants that would make it difficult for Israeli officials to travel abroad."

Busted! Israel youngsters try to rob bank with toy guns

Reuters
Using toy guns, a 12-year-old boy and his 13-year-old accomplice tried to rob a bank in Israel but fled without any cash after apparently losing their nerve, police said on Thursday.

Security camera footage showed the boys, wearing hooded sweatshirts, entering the bank in Rishon Lezion, a suburb of Tel Aviv on Wednesday. One had a schoolbag on his back and what appeared to be a rifle in his hand.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said both were carrying fake M-16 assault rifles and that they shouted "this is a holdup".

"They were toy guns but they looked real. The people in the bank were scared, but then the suspects ran out without taking any money," he said, adding that police were able to identify the pair from the security footage and later arrested them.

CTVNews -An Israeli-Canadian injured in a horrific attack on a Jerusalem synagogue remains in a coma, may be in hospital for months, and will likely never work again, his family says.

Howard Rotman, 53, lost his right eye after suffering stab wounds to the head, face and arms during the attack, which occurred during morning prayers one week ago.

Rotman is being treated in the intensive care unit at Jerusalem's Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center, his brother, Steve Rothman. The brothers spell their last names differently, after Howard changed it to a traditional Hebrew spelling.

Doctors tried to bring Rotman out of his coma last week, but were unsuccessful, Steve said. The doctors believe that his brother has brain damage, he added, but the extent is unknown.

Rotman lost his right eye in the attack, and his right arm is being held together by a plate.
