"This is something that you can't plan. This is something God sets in motion, and you just roll with the punches," Penticoff told ABC7 in Fort Myers, Florida.
Martin and Penticoff both had the same due dates, and doctors then induced them for separate medical reasons on Tuesday. Penticoff's daughter Madeline was born first at Lee Memorial Hospital, weighing 8 lbs. 15 oz. Just less than three hours later, baby Damien was born, officially making the newborn Madeline an aunt.
"It's like having twins without carrying twins," Penticoff said.
The family is used to unique age/relative situations. Martin, mother of the younger newborn Damien, has two aunts and an uncle younger than her.
"To have my mom going through it with me is probably the most special, amazing thing ever," Martin told ABC 7.
